Vintage framed serigraph (silkscreen print) on paper, edition of 500. Inaugural poster by Robert Indiana for the New York State Theater commissioned by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, (named the David H. Koch theater in 2008) and home of the New York city ballet.

The design is inspired by the Johnson fountain in the middle of Lincoln center, with radiating spokes and concentric wheels which mimic the design of travertine and mosaic around the fountain. The red and yellow colors are inspired by the colors of the theater. The thin vertical bronze struts of the upper Promenade decks of the theater inspired the seven red bars in the poster and the thin yellow stripes.

The yellow discs which contain the separate stenciled letters are meant to suggest the round diamond-faceted lights in theaters, and also recall the theatrical tradition of footlights and the flashing Broadway marquee.

- Poster in very good condition, with signs of wear to frame.
